The Last Days of February

We have almost made it through another month!  We have a full week ahead and this is our last week before ISAT testing begins.  Full speed ahead...here is a glimpse for what is coming up:
* Conference request forms are due on Monday!  Teachers will meet this week to schedule times for everyone and there will be a letter coming home either the end of this week/beginning of next week with your assigned day and time.
* Martin is our MVP!
* In reading, we will continue to review vocabulary and reading strategies for the ISAT test.  The kids are working to put their thoughts down and back up their opinions on their long responses.  This week we will also look into word parts/origins.
* During math we will continue to tackle problem solving.  The kids are getting used to showing ALL of their work and explaining in words what they did and why they did it.  We will work with finding fractional parts of a polygons, adding/subtraction fractions, and equivalent fractions.  The kids will also have review sheets along with their regular study links for homework to help keep other concepts fresh in our minds.
* The kids will have 1-2 more days to work on their explorer presentations.  We will then spend the rest of the week sharing our information and presentations with each other.  We're excited to learn about all of the different explorers that were researched.
* In grammar this week we will review adjectives.  The kids will be responsible for identifying the adjective in a sentence and explaining what it describes.  The rest of our writing time will be spent reviewing some ISAT science items or "unjournaling" for some creative writing experience.
* Have a great end to February!
