* Thanks to all the volunteers for Field Day! Friday was so much fun traveling to all the different events and then going to Camelot in the afternoon. We couldn't have asked for better weather!
* This week we have 2 full days of school on Monday and Tuesday. Both days will be regular schedules are far as specials and lunches are concerned. Wednesday and Thursday will be half days and the kids will be dismissed at 12:05.
* On Monday the kids will have a chance to Skype with Rob Buyea, author of Because of Mr. Terrupt. All of the fourth graders had a chance to write down questions they would like to ask Mr. Buyea and he will be talking to the kids about the life of an author.
* We will be cleaning out our desks on TUESDAY! Please send your child with an extra bag (or two if needed) so that he/she can fit all of the materials from his/her desk into the bags to bring home. There is a yellow school supply donation sheet in each child's mailbox. If you would like your child to donate any of the used supplies, please sign the sheet to give permission and send this back with your child on Tuesday.
* The kids will be visiting the 5th grade classrooms on Wednesday! They will get an overview of what activities are the same/different in 5th grade and they will also get to meet some of their teachers.
* Yearbooks will be handed out on Thursday. We will have an all-school assembly and then have to chance to sign yearbooks with kids in our own homeroom, followed by the whole school! The pledge for Thursday will be said outside to celebrate out last day of school.
* There will be no summer packets given out for summer practice, however, there are a few things I suggest that all the kids can do to practice:
1. READ, READ,READ! Even if it's just 10 minutes a day, any reading your child can do will be a huge help!
2. Continue with PROBE! The students will bring home their PROBE books this summer so that they can continue to work with them. The students choose a topic to research, find information that they can organize into one page, and then write it down. This is not only a great activity for the kids to do for reading, but also for writing.
3. Keep a summer journal/diary of events. Has handwriting been an issue? This is a great way to practice cursive, as well as, sentence formation.
4. Use the blog websites on our classroom blog and LMC blog. Your child will have access to these all summer!
5. Practice your math facts with online games or buy flash cards. Knowing your basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts never hurts!
* Those kids who completed the Great America reading minutes will receive their tickets on Monday! Have fun with them!
* I think that covers it from here! Again, THANK YOU so much for a wonderful year. As I was doing report cards, I had so many flashbacks throughout the year where your child made me smile. They are such a great group of kids and although I am proud of all they have accomplished, I am sad to see them go! Have a wonderful summer and safe travels! See you in the fall!
