* Scott is our Star Student-- we look forward to learning more about him!
* ISAT's are here--we will begin our ISAT tests on Monday. Below is the schedule that we will follow for the week.
* Due to testing, we will take a break from our regular writing, reading, spelling, and math schedules. All of these will resume next week.
* The kids are encouraged to get plenty of rest this week! Please make sure that he/she eats a healthy breakfast, gets a healthy lunch, and has a healthy snack (or two) to keep him/her going. I told the kids that they were welcome to bring in an extra snack if they wanted-- we will have one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
* Please encourage your child to just do the best that he/she can. We have done a lot of work up until this point and this is a chance for your child to show off his/her skills. It is normal to have some nervous feelings coming into testing (teachers included, too), however, just encourage your child and let him/her know that as long as he/she tries his/her best--that's all we are asking for!
* We will have a celebration for our students in class on Friday afternoon for all of their hard work. We will watch James and the Giant Peach. We will later compare the movie to the novel that we read in class. Believe or not, there are many differences!
* We will move ahead with our social studies unit this week! The kids will begin Chapter 4 in their History Alive books. This chapter covers the reasons for exploration. The kids will learn a bit about archeology and have a chance to do a pretend excavation to uncover various artifacts that will give clues about past explorers. We will then use these artifacts to help us talk about why explorers took the chances they did exploring unknown territory.
* I hope everyone has a good start to the month! Hang in there--spring needs to come sometime!
